Woodcutters Cottage:
 | “..we drove into the Storms River Village and checked into a restored forester’s home, names the Woodcutters Cottage. You could have basted a cow in the fireplace it was so big, and the walls were so thick…” (Chris Marais, Country Life, June 2006)
Set in the tranquil village of Storms River, at the foothills of the majestic Tsitsikamma Mountains, this bygone era cottage was built around 1925, and has been lovingly renovated to its original design. |
Fully equipped with crockery, cutlery and linen, this enchanting cottage consists of two bedrooms, an open plan dining room/lounge, a kitchen, a bathroom (bath, basin and toilet), a separate shower room and guest loo. The bathroom is fitted with an automatic washing machine and the shower room has a heated towel rail. There is a large fireplace on a traditional Cape hearth. DSTV for rainy days.

View the mountains from the front veranda or relax on the back patio while enjoying a barbecue.
The Tsitsikamma National Park, with its famous Otter trail is an easy drive from the cottage, as is Natures Valley, and, slightly further afield, Plettenberg Bay, with all it’s modern amenities. Going west, one can either use one of the most spectacular toll roads in South Africa (taking in the craft market and witnessing one of the world’s highest bungy jumps), or take the historical Bloukrans Pass route through the gorges and forests.

The Big Tree (yellowwood, approximately 800 years old), is virtually on your doorstep, as are numerous walks through the indigenous forest. You might just want to take it easy and enjoy a relaxing tractor drawn trailer ride through the forest to the Thomas Bain Bridge – an engineering feat of its day. The Tree-Tops Canopy Tour is a must. View the breathtaking Storms River from the Paul Sauer Bridge, ending your adventure at the suspension bridge in the coastal national park. Being one of only a few of South Africa’s marine conservation areas, scuba diving is at its best or for the less adventurous, outstanding snorkelling is a must. (Full scuba diving and snorkelling equipment to be taken).
