Where is the Tsitsikamma?
Halfway between George and Port Elizabeth, 150 kms from each city respectively. The Tsitsikamma region stretches for about 50kms between Nature’s Valley in the west and Clarkson in the east. The region lies between the Tsitsikamma mountains in the north, and the Indian Ocean in the south. The width of this strip of land is between 6 and 8 kms.

What happened during the 1800’s…?
A water channel which was constructed by Thomas Bain when the Storms River pass was constructed in the 1880s. A dam was built across the stream where the fynbos trail is now and water channels dug which led to the convict station (convicts used for road construction) near the SAN Parks offices. These fed water to the convict station.
