Suikerbossie Mountain Cabin

Situated in the Kouga Mountains just off the R62, immersed in nature with the most mesmerising views of the endless, velvety, fold-upon-fold Kouga and Baviaanskloof mountains, you will find our small and intimate semi off-grid self-catering Mountain Cabin. Amongst the natural fynbos and diverse fauna, the cabin sleeps 4 guests in the open plan living, dining and main bedroom area, making it the ideal getaway for couples or small families wanting some alone time. Our cabin offers a truly South African wild experience set on top of a mountain hill with the most peaceful sounds of nature and wind whispering through indigenous landscapes. We have so much more to offer than just accommodation. Our cabin is a great getaway for family time where everyone, including your pets can roam freely. With the many different hiking trails and view points on the farm, we sure cater for a range of people, from the active to the more passive.



The Sink Shack

Tucked away between two valleys in the Kouga Mountains, just off the R62, you will the Sink Shack. It is a rustic self-catering hideout, perfect for the nature lover seeking that true out-in-the-wild getaway. The Sink Shack offers a truly South Africa experience, set in a tranquil and peaceful environment, surrounded by rolling fynbos covered hills and  the impossible peaceful sounds of nature. Besides the panoramic view of indigenous fynbos, the shack also offers an outdoor fire-pit ideal for creating special memories with family and friends while your small ones explore some more. The Sink Shack is an open plan living, dining and bedroom area, sleeping 6 guests. It has a fully equipped self-catering kitchen and with an indoor fireplace centrally positioned in the lounge area overlooking the surrounding views. This property is vast and offers many different hiking trails and viewpoints.

Coming from George’s side: (About 190km)
Follow the R62 towards Port-Elizabeth. You will pass numerous small towns, firstly Avontuur, then Haarlem,
Misgund, Louterwater and Krakeelrivier. Just before you will reach the town Joubertina, and just before crossing a
bridge, you need to turn left onto the gravel road, that reads “onder-kouga”. If you drove past The Kraaltjie Guest
House, you went too far.
Coming from Port-Elizabeth’s side: (About 190km)
Take the N2 in the direction of George. Take the turnoff onto the R62 and follow the winding roads towards the
small town of Joubertina. As you drive past Joubertina, you will cross a bridge at The Kraaltjie guest house. Just after
crossing the bridge, you need to turn right onto the gravel road, that reads ”onder kouga”.
From the bridge turnoff:
Follow the gravel road for about 7km that will lead you towards 5 farm dwellings. You will reach a fork in the road,
keep right at the fork. At about 2,2km you will find a slightly hidden turnoff to the left, which you need to take. This

hidden path will lead you to the Sink Shack a further 500m away.

From the bridge turnoff:

Follow the gravel road for about 7km that will lead you towards 5 farm dwellings. You will reach a fork in the road...

If you're going to the Sink Shack, keep right at the fork. At about 2,2km you will find a slightly hidden turnoff to the left, which you need to take. This hidden path will lead you to the Sink Shack a further 500m away.

If you're going to Suikerbossie Mountain Cabin, keep left at the fork. Drive straight towards the black gate with the sign “Kritpaas” on it. Fitted to the pillar on your right you will find a security box for the key to the gate, code to be given when booking confirmed. The Main Farmhouse is to your right once you past through the gate.

Drive past the Main Farmhouse. Follow the gravel road for about 2km. After about 2km you will reach a fork where you need to turn right. There is a small wooden sign indicating the turnoff. Follow the road uphill for about 1km. You will find the cabin to your left, just over the slope.
